What's Plastic-Free July?

FaceSoft Towels

July is the month celebrated across the world as an opportunity to be part of the solution to plastic pollution. I don't know about you, but summer is my favorite time of year! July is the designated month to encourage others to reduce their plastic use because that is when it is used the most. Think about it- we enjoy drinks on the beach, travel, party and mostly spend time on the water to cool off during this month. Now, just multiply all these fun-in-the-sun happenings by the amount of people out there celebrating summertime.

Nobody is perfect and I will never expect you to be. This is a time to celebrate the little things you are doing to help the Earth and challenge yourself to make a difference by reducing your plastic use. And guess what? Putting an end to single-use plastic is actually better for your health because you will be in charge of making sure the products you use are actually clean. In addition, the brands that Eco Mermaids™ sells, such as Facesoft Towels, have completely eliminated using micro-plastics in their products and don't use plastic in their packaging. The Facesoft Towel seen on little Foxy in the photo is made of charcoal which can also pull toxins from your skin in this hot month. Facesoft towels are good for the environment and good for you. Eco Mermaids™ sells bamboo straws and toothbrushes (with many benefits) as a way for you to cut back on plastic use. You will really love the bamboo sunglasses. They are polarized and float in the water. As a former teacher, I'm all about the rewards! Simply try a suggestion below and reward yourself for doing so!

* Use a reusable bamboo straw, bamboo toothbrush or pair of bamboo sunglasses from Eco Mermaids™

* Bring your own reusable bags when shopping

* Use your own, washable containers and cups for food/drinks

* Pick up plastic and other litter when you see it or plan a clean-up

* Clean and reuse plastic items

* Make an effort to choose brands that eliminate plastic (from EcoMermaids.com of course)

* Tell someone about Plastic-Free July

My Oasis...the Inflatable Paddle Board by Body Glove!

Body Glove Paddle Board by Surf 9 LLC / Just Bones Boardwear TM Bikini / Just A Blink Photography by Joleen What is your favorite way to start the day? For me, there couldn't be anything better than to wake up early and go paddle boarding with my dog. A typical visit to the Orlando Surf Expo made my dreams come true when I walked away with an inflatable paddle board and surf board by Body Glove. That's right, I said "inflatable!" I have a small 2-seater and I can easily fit them in the trunk or passenger seat. Then, I can inflate them when I get to my location. Absolutely perfect! My boards arrived at my home in boxes with a guide book and all the necessary accessories (see photos below.) I always borrow, rent or share boards but I have never actually owned one so, to me this was like Christmas morning! Everything was labeled and easy to understand. It all fits nicely in bags with handles and straps to carry it all around. The boards roll up

BEST. SWIMSUIT. EVER.

Petflair Swimsuit & Photography by Lety Remior When one of my friends told me he had heard about a company that let's you put a picture of your dog on your swimsuit (and knew it would be right up my alley of course), I went straight to my lap top and began searching for it. It didn't take long as the crowd-funding buzz had started to make it's way around the internet. I found the website and had a look for myself. This fabulous company is from Australia and called Petflair. Am I the only one who goes straight to the "about us" section or do you do that too? It helped me to see that this was a company I wanted to support because not only is it a great story with a unique idea but Petflair donates 25% of it's profits to Pound Paws (a charity for abandoned pets.) I decided I needed to find out more about the making of swimsuits with our pets. These babies are $99, which is reasonable, especially for a customized suit with your dog! However,

Live a Luminous Life

Luminous Sol Swimwear The logo is luminous. The bikinis are luminous. The vibes are luminous. The owner has the most wonderful, positive energy about her and her kindness shines bright. You too can let your light shine with this new, radiant swimwear brand called Luminous Sol. I'm wearing the Ella top in a blush palm print that reverses to a lovely lilac color. Both are sensational colors on the skin! When you reverse the suit to the lilac side, the strings are still the pink palm print and it looks like heaven together. The fit and feel is excellent with an adjustable lace-up back. One of the things I loved most about it is that there was no padding, which made it look and feel smooth (along with a quick dry-time.) We are going to give away the sliding-triangle Anya top in the above sunset photo to one lucky winner on Instagram so, be sure to follow us, @foxyandpaige and @luminoussolswimwear, to be entered into the drawing . I just love my bottoms because they ar

Warning: This may shock you!

Becca by Rebecca Virtue One pieces are back and better than ever. They are naturally flattering and super slimming. The right pattern/design can enhance or downplay areas, while holding everything in.  Teenagers, mothers and women of all ages are following the trend. And, you don't even have to be part of the skinny b's club. I’ve seen the Becca one-piece in this photo on all sizes and it looks good! It's also available in black, white and blue. It's a "plunge" that is tastefully see-through with a low back. Some brands cover less ( like Billabong, L*Space, Ale and Vitamin A ) and some cover more. Wear one with shorts and you'll have a body suit too.  What's the harm in trying some on? I bet you'll get many compliments. Shop for one piece swimwear at Surfshop (click here)

Embrace Diversity

It's time to embrace others... and embrace who you are. We are all different so, we shouldn't be expected to wear the same style swimsuits. You should pick out swimwear that makes you happy and comfortable. Strong women support each other and we shouldn't judge each other by what's on the outside. If you got it, flaunt it. If you want to cover something up, go for it. Show off your best asset (and don't say you don't have one because you do!) There are many styles to chose from: bra-tops, triangle tops, tankinis, swim skirts, swim shorts, cheeky, etc. Focus on your concerns, enhance your good qualities and keep a positive body image. I'd like to thank my beautiful family for taking these photos with me and for being wonderful, supportive women.
