When one of my friends told me he had heard about a company that let's you put a picture of your dog on your swimsuit (and knew it would be right up my alley of course), I went straight to my lap top and began searching for it. It didn't take long as the crowd-funding buzz had started to make it's way around the internet. I found the website and had a look for myself. This fabulous company is from Australia and called Petflair. Am I the only one who goes straight to the "about us" section or do you do that too? It helped me to see that this was a company I wanted to support because not only is it a great story with a unique idea but Petflair donates 25% of it's profits to Pound Paws (a charity for abandoned pets.)
I decided I needed to find out more about the making of swimsuits with our pets. These babies are $99, which is reasonable, especially for a customized suit with your dog! However, I was concerned with their Australian sizing because one of the most important things when getting a swimsuit is that it fits properly or I'm not going to wear it and it won't look good. I exited out of the site to think on it. That's when I got an email from Petflair. They wanted to know why I left and how they could help so, I gave my honest feedback and started a friendly conversation. Now, that's customer service!
Petflair has provided an excellent size chart (since you unfortunately will not be able to return) so, make sure you look at it before making your purchase. I used my measurements and another Australian suit I have to make a decision on which size to get and it fits great. Typically for swimsuits, a size 8 would be a small, a 10 is a medium and a 12 is a large. Also, there are three choices of one-piece suits. I picked the Coco because it is the only one that is adjustable for fit and as needed in the water. Checking the mail and finding out that your Petflair suit arrived is cause for running in the house to try it on ASAP. I couldn't be happier that it ended up fitting me just right and to see my baby on a swimsuit put a huge smile on my face.
Choosing the photo was harder than it seems because I have so many cute pictures of Foxy. The one seen on my bathing suit is "Vacation Foxy" and it makes me laugh every time. She is very happy on vacation, like her momma. I decided I wanted to make others laugh, smile and be happy when they saw it. I did a poll on Instagram and the results were unanimous with 100% of the votes choosing this one. Not to mention all the private messages I received filled with love and laughter for my silly little fox. (She is even trying to play with me right now as I type.) Since your photo will not take up the entire suit, you get to pick a background color. My favorite color is pink so, that was a no-brainer and I think it turned out amazing. I also chose the white straps. There are other fun options you'll see when you design one for yourself. Do not fret boys- because you can get a speedo, bag or beach towel with your dogs face! Mine even came with some stickers of Foxy's face!
