Body Glove Paddle Board by Surf 9 LLC / Just Bones Boardwear TM Bikini / Just A Blink Photography by Joleen |
What is your favorite way to start the day? For me, there couldn't be anything better than to wake up early and go paddle boarding with my dog. A typical visit to the Orlando Surf Expo made my dreams come true when I walked away with an inflatable paddle board and surf board by Body Glove. That's right, I said "inflatable!" I have a small 2-seater and I can easily fit them in the trunk or passenger seat. Then, I can inflate them when I get to my location. Absolutely perfect!
My boards arrived at my home in boxes with a guide book and all the necessary accessories (see photos below.) I always borrow, rent or share boards but I have never actually owned one so, to me this was like Christmas morning! Everything was labeled and easy to understand. It all fits nicely in bags with handles and straps to carry it all around. The boards roll up and have inflatable covers for the fins. (The removable fin covers remind me of what children learning to swim would wear.) Both boards come with an ankle leash, a waterproof case and a pump. I have inflated both boards and it didn't take long. Plus, I got a pretty good work-out! The paddle board takes a little longer to inflate (but still takes less than 15 minutes.) You need to make sure it is at 15 PSI and close the cap. Then, you are ready to float! The water is still too chilly for me right now so, I've taken out my paddle board a few times (but not the surf board yet) and I managed not to get wet.
The amazing Joleen at Just A Blink Photography met me for one of my beautiful sunrise paddles and captured the experience for us (see above.) I recommend pumping up your board exactly where you plan on putting it in because it is pretty big but, it does have handles to carry it. As you can see in one of the photos, Foxy likes to sit in the bag like it's her bed while she waits for me to pump up the board. You can put together your paddle and adjust it to your height. For me, I like to start out on my knees to get Foxy used to being out there. After a few minutes I re-adjust my paddle and we are ready to rock-n-roll. This "Oasis" board is unlike other paddle boards because it has a yoga mat embedded onto it. It is covered with a smooth and comfortable EVA material. This makes it easier for me to do yoga and it helps to prevent Foxy from slipping off the board. The board is designed for stability with it's shape, yoga mat and the fact that it is 34 inches wide. There were a lot of boats where we went recently which caused some big waves and I'm happy to say, my little 4-pound dog did just fine! There are also places to hold and attach your things to the board. It's my favorite colors, pink and purple, too! But, the highlight of the morning for us all was when two dolphin came to play and swim right around us. What an amazing experience! We even saw them catch fish and eat right before our eyes. I'm so grateful Joleen was there to see it and she did an excellent job of not missing this beautiful moment. The dolphin were at peace near us and seemed so close that I could almost touch them. I was all smiles and would've never got to experience it without my amazing Body Glove Oasis stand up paddle board. You haven't seen a sunrise unless you've seen it on a SUP with dolphin right in front of you!
When you are finished paddle boarding, simply open the valve and your board will deflate easily. Start rolling it up to push out the air. I recommend bringing a towel to clean it off and then let it air dry when you get home. You may also want to check out a previous posts of mine regarding the Body Glove Barefoot water-shoes that you can wear when paddle boarding. And, as I've mentioned before there are many benefits to paddle boarding including physical, mental and environmental advantages. If needed, the board comes with a repair kit and warranty but, I honestly think it'll be fine. I didn't have any problems and I've already taken it out a few times. Body Glove SUPs are made to be incredibly durable yet light-weight. I can also go faster with this design and it's 3 fins- you guys know I like that! Body Glove has been around for years and I can assure its quality. I love the independence and success I felt with my "Oasis" paddle board. I have even invited my friends to join me on it because the Body Glove paddle boards can hold up to 320 pounds and we can ride together. Who's ready for an adventure?
