Hakuna Wear Swimwear and iRocker Paddleboard by Michael Flores Photography |
Do you remember the song from Disney's "The Lion King"? As Timon and Pumbaa would say, "Hakuna Matata! It means no worries." I always loved that song and what it represents about life. I'm guessing Jessica, the designer of Hakuna Wear, did too. She's an adorable, sweet surfer girl that wanted us to have no worries when surfing (and even while simply wearing a swimsuit.) She's a beauty with brains and used her chemistry PhD to bring us the best swimsuit fabrics out there!
I had the opportunity to meet Jessica in Miami, Florida where these photos were taken. She lives and surfs in California, where the Hakuna Wear swimsuits are made. She brought us sustainable swimwear where we can be free to be ourselves. Our vibes couldn't be more in sync, especially since that's what my swimwear inspiration blog is all about. I felt very comfortable in my high-waist bottoms and sporty top. I could focus on what I wanted to do, like surfing on an inflatable paddle board for the first time, and not worry about what my stomach looked like. I also was able to put my essentials in my hidden back pocket. Other styles even adjust for when you are surfing and need to tighten your bottoms up a little bit.
I can't wait to try out my new Cloud 9 one-piece, the original Hakuna Wear design. It arrived in eco-responsible packaging and is probably one of the most amazing suits I own. It's a sleek and sexy black onsie with details and cut outs. It has a hidden back pocket too, of course. The material feels so smooth and the fit is excellent. I'm sure I will have no worries when wearing it to catch some waves. The Cloud 9 one-piece and most of the suits are made responsibly from a limestone neoprene called "geoprene." Not only is it less dense than oil-based neoprene but it is also warmer, lighter, durable and stretches better. It also requires less toxic chemicals during it's production process. Some of the other eco friendly Hakuna swimwear fabrics are made from recycled plastic bottles and have UPF 50+ protection. The tropical prints reverse to solid colors for a new look along with mix-and-matching. What a lovely surprise to find out that the Hakuna Wear tags are embedded with wildflower seeds with directions to add water and create your own rainbow, just like the suit attached. I love it!
Hakuna Wear is functional, sustainable and stylish for both men and women. With Hakuna Wear, men and women all over the world can feel comfortable and enjoy time in an ocean free of plastic. We encourage you to "be free to be you!
